EE Seniors Awarded NCMR Scholarship

Three seniors in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame have been awarded 2009 scholarship grants from the National Consortium for Measurement and Signature Intelligence Research (NCMR) Scholars Program. The recipients are Walter Bruen, William Carson, and Matthew Prelee.

Measurement and signal intelligence (MASINT) is a term used to describe a wide range of disciplines that include advanced radar and other sensing technologies. The NCMR was established by the US Congress in 2003 to promote MASINT-related research collaboration among academia, industry, laboratories, and government. The NCMR scholarship takes the form of a $10,000 award that the recipient can use to pay for tuition, books, and/or room and board.

Walter Bruen is from Carmel, Indiana; he is the son of Pat and Leslie Bruen. Bill Carson is from Princeton Junction, NJ and is the son of Bill and Kathy Carson. Matthew Prelee is from Willoughby, Ohio, and he is the son of Daniel and Betsy Prelee.
