Olympus Workshop

Join Olympus technology experts on April 10 for an advanced product and technology open house featuring demonstrations and hands-on workshops with Olympus industrial microscopes. The event, which will be held in 108 Stinson-Remick Hall, is open to faculty, students, and staff who want to learn more about optical microscopes. There is no registration fee, but pre-registration is required.

Users of Olympus microscopes are also invited to submit their images to the Microscope Imaging Contest. Winners will be announced at the workshop. See details below.

Microscope Imaging Contest!

Microscopy not only allows us to research the tiny structures that make up our world, it also provides a stunning array of beautiful imagery. Showcase your skills and artistry, and celebrate Olympus’ 100-year anniversary by participating in the 2019 Olympus / Notre Dame Microscope Imaging Contest!

Offered through the Department of Electrical Engineering, the contest recognizes and celebrates exceptional achievements in microscopic imaging using Olympus microscopes. Contest winners will receive an Olympus certificate and gift card.

Rules and Registration Information

  • Images must be acquired using Olympus optical microscopes (BX, GX, SXZ, etc.) or 3D laser confocal (LEXT OLS) microscopes.
  • Data must be submitted by April 1, 2019, using the  ND-Olympus Image Contest Registration Form.
  • Submit application form and sample image to Mina Hong, Ph.D., Application Scientist. E: mina.hong@olympus-ossa.com
  • Images will be evaluated on quality, artistic merit, imaging technique, and research innovation. The judges' panel will consist of Olympus application scientists, and Notre Dame professors and lab managers.
  • Awards will be announced April 10, 2019, during the Olympus / Notre Dame workshop, Advances and Applications with Light and Confocal Microscopes.
