The evolution toward sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks is expected to enable ubiquitous, intelligent, and highly reliable connectivity for massive Internet-of-Things (loT) ecosystems, autonomous systems, and emerging cyber-physical applications. Achieving these ambitious objectives requires significant advances in spectral efficiency, energy efficiency, security, and network intelligence beyond the capabilities of current 5G systems.

This talk presents recent advances in intelligent wireless communications with emphasis on cooperative communications, cognitive radio networks, non-terrestrial networks (NTNS), and Al-enabled wireless system design. The presentation highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in wireless communications, including deep learning-based performance prediction, resource optimization, and intelligent network management for dynamic 6G environments. The talk concludes with research directions and opportunities toward realizing fully intelligent, adaptive, and secure NTNs for future communication systems.
Prof. Prabhat Kumar Upadhyay received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2011 and is currently Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Dean of International Relations at |IT Indore. He has held visiting positions at McMaster University, Canada; the University of Oulu, Finland, under the Nokia Foundation Fellowship; and Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He leads the Wireless Communication (WiCom) Research Group at IIT Indore, focusing on next-generation wireless systems, loT, molecular communications, and nano-networks. He has published over 125 research papers and authored a book and several book chapters. Prof. Upadhyay serves as an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and has previously served on the editorial boards of IEEE Communications Letters and IEEE Access. His honors include the IETE-N V Gadadhar Memorial Award (2022), IEEE Communications Letters Exemplary Editor Award (2021), and the Sir Visvesvaraya Young Faculty Fellowship (2018-2023). He is a Fellow of IETE and IEl, and a Senior Member of IEEE.
