Areas of Interest
David Burghoff is an electrical engineer and an applied physicist. His group uses quantum and nonlinear optics to study and exploit the interactions of light and matter. He uses nanoscale engineering to push beyond the limits of conventional electronics and photonics to harness basic science and newly discovered phenomena to create devices that address the world’s key challenges in health care, energy, sensing, security, and transportation. The overarching theme of his research is the development of new platforms that will allow long-wavelength light to be used in scalable sensors and systems.
