Thomas O’Sullivan
Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering
Areas of Interest
The O’Sullivan Research Group strives to improve medical care, particularly cancer care, with advanced imaging technologies. Based on visible and near-infrared light, these imaging and sensing approaches are safe, non-invasive, and quantitative.
The goal is to create innovative medical devices that can soon be translated into hospitals and clinics to improve the quality of health care. Prof. O’Sullivan’s team works at multiple levels of integration — from basic optical components such as lasers and detectors, to fully integrated systems used to collect clinical study data.
