The Notre Dame College of Engineering is pleased to announce the Spring 2025 recipients of the Staff Excellence Awards, which recognize staff members’ exemplary contributions above and beyond the scope of their standard job responsibilities.
Award recipients are honored for having a substantial positive impact on the operations of their departments, the College, and the University, helping to elevate Notre Dame Engineering as we strive to build a better world for all.
We are pleased to recognize the following Spring 2025 award recipients:
R’nld Rumbach – Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME)
For her exceptional dedication to both research and animal care, her commitment to fostering a strong sense of community through wellness initiatives, and her collaborative, enthusiastic support for colleagues, even during challenging periods like the lab’s move to a new building.
Frank Severa – Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (CEEES)
For combining technical expertise and a solutions-driven mindset with unwavering support for students, from maintaining lab equipment and mentoring in the Materials Lab to playing a vital role in the success of the ASCE Indiana-Kentucky Student Symposium.
John Slaughter – Engineering and Science Computing (ESC)
For developing innovative systems that enhance research access, and for his consistent and reliable support of faculty, staff, and students, with a particular focus on the successful development and implementation of the Engineering Keys Portal.
Barbara Walsh – Electrical Engineering (EE)
For her remarkable organization, proactive problem-solving, and unwavering dedication to Electrical Engineering, consistently going above and beyond to support departmental operations with professionalism, warmth, and a can-do attitude.
